If you're cruising around East Stroudsburg, Stroudsburg, Easton, Brodheadsville, or Saylorsville, you may see a mysterious light pop up on the dashboard of your Mazda. These symbols are meant to alert the driver to a malfunction occurring in the vehicle.

To help you understand the meaning behind these symbols, our team at Ray Price Mazda crafted this Mazda dashboard symbol guide. Let's get started!

Check Engine Light

A universal symbol of all vehicles is the check engine light. This icon looks like an engine on your Mazda dashboard. So, what does it mean? Well, basically, it can refer to several potential malfunctions in your engine.

If a check engine light appears on your dashboard, contact your local Mazda dealership to have a technician inspect your vehicle.

Engine Oil Warning Light

Like every vehicle, engine oil is important to the health of your vehicle. If the oil begins to run low, you'll see the engine oil level light appear.

The symbol looks like an oil pan that is dripping near the spout. If you see the light come on, check the level of your motor oil. If it's low, you can refill the oil yourself or stop by a shop!

Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS)

The anti-lock brake system symbol looks like the letters ABS inside of a circle, inside of a parenthesis.

The anti-lock brakes provide your Mazda with superb stopping power. You can still use your brakes if this light is on, but it's best to have your model checked at the earliest convenience to ensure your safety.

Brake System Warning Light

The brake warning light will appear in red and looks like an exclamation point inside of a circle, inside a parenthesis.

The light could suggest that your brake fluid is low or your brakes aren't properly functioning. Either way, have your Mazda immediately inspected by a technician.

Charging System Warning Light

The charging system malfunction symbol relates to the function of your battery. The symbol will appear in red and looks like a car battery with a plus sign on the top right and a minus sign on the top left.

Your battery is an important component of your vehicle. Therefore, if this symbol appears, you may need to have it replaced. Find out by having it inspected by a technician.
